Hei. Hi. Hallo.
I'm Simone, Service Designer, currently
working and living in Helsinki – Finland.
My professional roots are in product and industrial design, as well as the intersection of design & sustainability. It always excites me to work with and for people, and collaboratively create something inspiring, useful and usable for people and the planet.
My most recent role as a Service Designer in a small, digital team focusing on the construction industry and its digitalisation has brought together nicely what drives me: bringing the users’, humans’ and planet’s perspective to projects. The construction industry has a huge impact on sustainability – and many entry points for change towards a more sustainable future.
Even though my professional expertise as a Service Designer is now shaped by two years of working with digital tools in a multidisciplinary team, I aim to approach design processes (for services) from a broader angle. They are about what people experience and how they interact with products, each other and the world.
Thanks to being part of a multidisciplinary team working on digital development in an agile way – but also partnering with a big construction industry player, I could compare my comfort zone of iterative design processes with new ways of working. It helped me to extend and reflect on my skills as a Service Designer and a person. I understood that I e.g. enjoy working creatively, explorative and hands-on.

what I am proud of…
…having good relations with everyone I’ve worked with. According to my colleagues, I am positive minded, supportive and have can-do attitude.
…learning Finnish and getting better every day. Yes, it is challenging and slow – but I am so glad that I now start to have sensible conversations in Finnish.
…the workshops, research and interviews conducted – and even better if you get to hear: “Interesting…this is a hard to answer but very important question!”

what inspires me in life…
…are e.g. nature and the connecting with other people. I have never ending admiration for the things surrounding us – be it nature, well designed products and services or great experiences such as concerts and exhibitions.
Being active, in e.g. Karate and climbing teach me to persistently improve, grow and be focused – and prepares me for new experiences and challenges.
